Overview

In 2018, Interswitch started a journey to change the future of African students through InterswitchSPAK, a niche but very powerful tool for growth and development of the African continent. Upon the successful off take in Nigeria, Interswitch decided to expand same to kenya another of her key markets.

With over $6m committed towards STEM-focused impact across Africa, InterswitchSPAK has fulfilled the dreams of 45 Spaksters in Nigeria and 24 Spaksters in Kenya to pursue their tertiary education at reputable schools in Nigeria, Kenya, US, UK and beyond.

Synopsis

InterswitchSPAK, a pan-african science competition designed to empower African students in developing, ignite, and chart a career path in the area of STEM education, aims to drive them towards fully optimizing their potential over a duration of 12 months. This competition welcomes participants from both public and private schools, fostering inclusivity and providing a platform for all students to contribute to making Africa a better place for us all.

The Competition

There are two main levels of the competition.

FIRST ROUND: ONLINE QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

The competition consists of two stages. In the first part, all registered candidates participate in a round of the competition at a specified time and date. Following the first round, the top 500candidates in Nigeria and top 200 in Kenya, selected from all states and countries, advance to the ssecond stage. In the second part, the best 81 students in Nigeria and 54 in Kenya from this stage proceeds to the TV Quiz show (Stage Two) of the competition. Schools are required to prepare their representatives for a qualifying test in four subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

SECOND ROUND: TV QUIZ COMPETITION

The best 81/54 students (with the highest scores) out of those who wrote the qualifying examination will be invited to participate at this stage of the competition. This will be recorded and transmitted on Television across Nigeria, Kenya and Africa
